Thats a tough one...while a non-apple device will sell better with an airplay compatible badge, its hard to argue that the opposite will drive more sales of iPads. Sorry folks, pay the Apple.

I miss Sound Edit 16.
I used that app so much in the old days... way before Macromedia and Adobe got into the game.

Apple Japan (http://www.apple.com/jp/) appears to have recreated Japanese versions of the Get a Mac ads with Japanese actors. The new ads can be seen at http://www.apple.com/jp/getamac/ads/
The original U.S. versions of the ads can still be found at Apple's Get a Mac site (http://www.apple.com/getamac/ads/).
The original ads featured Justin Long as "Mac" and John Hodgman as "PC". Recent reports (http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2006/11/20061109011718.shtml) have claimed that Justin Long will no longer be in future Get a Mac ads.

wow, this is a NETWORK issue, not iPhone.
the time is pushed to your phone by your carrier if it's set automatically. if it's not, then of course it's not gonna do anything or it's going to be wrong.
i thought this was common knowledge?
if i fly down to the west coast (i'm in the east) and restart my phone, I WILL GET THE TIME FOR THE WEST COAST
Precisely. Not sure why so many people can't seem to figure that out.

Ummmm, do you people ever check your sources? Other than the fact that this website said something nice about G4's, why do you choose to believe them?

Can someone tell me how can a small SD card be able to hold 2t. If this is the case why are most External HD so much bigger?
It doesn't at the moment. The biggest capacities are 64GB. The standard allows for cards up to 2TB, when they eventually arrive (maybe in 5-10 years).

Thanks for all the input.
I honestly haven't played much of the games some of you listed as platform-specific. I bought a Wii because of the virtual console games from old systems and the Zelda: Twilight Princess game available at launch. It was also $250 at the time versus like $400 and $600. I like a lot of the games I have bought for it, but damned EA Sports and it's awful NCAA Football attempt.
I think I like FPS games, but it of course depends on which one. I've heard a lot about Halo being good. I remember David Pollack talking about playing that with his roommates when he was at UGA. I think that was in the Halo 2 days. I liked playing Half-Life in college on our network, but I didn't play much of the story. SOCOM: US Navy SEALs was pretty awesome on the PS2, but I got stuck at a couple of parts on it.
As I said, I heard about a Magic: The Gathering game on 360 that sounds interesting. In my PC days, there was an online PC version of that game that I enjoyed a bit.
Someone may need to explain the point of such big hard disks to me on the 360 and PS3. I know you can download movies and such, but I'm still a disc whore/Apple whore. I've got a lot of BDs and DVDs that I use, plus I plan on getting an Apple TV whenever Steve-o decides to update it. I watch a TON of my DVDs ripped to my computer. The Wii has storage space mostly for saves and VC games. I have a 4GB SD card in there, which is way more than I need. See I'd buy the $250 system with two free games if not for the insanity of $90 for a WiFi adapter. My Wii has WiFi built in and costs $200 now. Microsoft, c'mon.
One last thing probably is system reliability. I've had a Wii since launch with no problems. I bought a PS2 before the slimming and it stopped playing stuff effectively, which forced me to buy a Slim. I don't know anybody who owned a PS2 who didn't have to do that. Consider me wary of Sony because of that, just this time the hardware has cost twice as much. I have two BD players. Yeah, it would be neat to have a newer one to replace my pre-Netflix streaming system that loads a little slow, but it still plays mostly fine. I've got another much better BD player, both of these Samsungs, and it's kick-ass.
Thanks again for the info. My only hangup right now on deciding on a 360 is the stinkin' Live Gold card. At least I don't have to buy that upfront. Oh yeah, I also don't want to see Tim Tebow's stupid face on NCAA Football for the next year. I would pay $100 for the game if I could get anybody on the cover but that douche. Unfortunately, even a replaced cover won't cover up the art in the game. AUGGH.

Every time... The biggest problem I've ever had with the iPhone is the face that it has a hard time with, well, time.
Without fail, my Calendar app is bonked, and when I have work until 11, the green colored event actually goes down to midnight. Tapping on it to bring up the info, it does still say 11.
Calendar glitch happens every single time, back or forward. No issues actually getting to the correct time, though.
No 's'
Grammatically, yes. Commonly, no. That's like trying to correct people that say Bologna with an 'ie' instead of the 'ah' sound on the end. No one does it, and there's no reason to nitpick.

I'm debating on Pages personally, its too much like a word processor and tries to play a desktop publishing program all in one. I dont mind the UI with my 30" Apple display but it seems too hard to use if you want to start out with a blank document and create anything like they have in the pre-done templates. I was impressed with the demo at MacWorld 2005 that you could have an image and it would automatically wrap text around it and the templates look nice but all in all its very hard to use it to design anything useful.
Pages should stick to either being a desktop publishing program or a word processor.. not both.
There will always be Illustrator and InDesign.

I built a table that links directly to bestbuy, walmart and target (http://kiernanvandoorn.wordpress.com/2011/04/01/where-in-the-world-can-i-buy-an-ipad2-now/) to check inventory levels. it helps, but with very little supply there isn't any good news hiding on the back shelf. And there are horror stories all over the next about bad practices like forcing customers to buy service protection plans just to buy from existing inventory. I know you're a woman and all, but how is coming back and expressing interest "borderline creepy?" I only think it's creepy that he came back the 3rd time at around the same time, on the 3rd consecutive week, knowing that she was working. The 2nd time seems okay. In fact, the 3rd time would have been ok as well..........if she was quite interested. ;)
To my own defense, the three times were not all consecutive, and the actual times of visit were all different, however they were all on a Saturday. I couldn't help my times for a while because I go to school on the east side of the state, and only went to the mall/Apple Store on weekends when I went home to see my friends/family. The first two were back-back weekends when I had stuff happening in town which brought me home, then a one week gap I stayed at school, then home again because my friend wanted to hangout and needed help shopping (because he has zero sense of fashion).
I still don't get how everyone is saying that a glance of eye-contact is "expressing interest", it happens all the time in a lot of different places, one can hardly help it.
devilot76 - But when you show up two more times and you seem to express interest-- that is borderline creepy
CanadaRAM - When you came back later and initated eye contact, it was on your terms, and that changed the whole dynamic, and took the control of the interaction out of her hands and into yours.
Lacero - Trying to, and successfully making eye contact on the 2nd and 3rd visit would have freaked me out. And I'm a guy! Making eye contact after having purchased something probably would have been the more appropriate action to take. Ah well...
Alright, so basically if I go in there, I am going to wear dark glasses and not allow her to see me, like stoop low and hide behind merchandise or something....this is getting difficult, all just to shop!

I suppose it could also be at the Stanford Shopping Center.
I find it sad that Steve Jobs can't even sit outside in the sun enjoying a cup of coffee and having an intelligent conversation with another very smart man without some idiot intruding on him like paparazzi feeling they must snap pictures. We should all be happy that despite his illness he is doing such outstanding work, and leave him alone.

Its funny that film and film cameras were so difficult to get right, but there was almost no post-processing. Now we shoot computers with lenses attached, get great technical results, yet post-process our photos to death.
I don't think this is entirely true. There was plenty of post processing back in the film days, just look at the works of Ansel Adams. It's just that the typical hobby photographer wasn't the one doing it- he sent his film off to a processing lab where it got developed and "post processed" by the lab technicians. Nowadays, with digital, the hobby photographer does almost all of the post processing himself.
The fundamentals of the process have not changed all that much, just who does them, and where/how.

Very well said - the absurd pension benefits they get for so little time is a glaring example of the abuse of power that our elected parasites exhibit.
It's absurd. You're vested in the program after 5 years. A Senator's term is 6.

Is Apple thinking that SD cards are going to become the new "floppies"?
No. Apple has an application called Aperture. Many DSLR cameras for professional users (for example the press) use SD cards to save the picture data. HD camcorders use also SD cards to save the video data.
Imagine if people started exchanging SD cards. Initially lower capacities only will be available, but soon CD equivalent SD cards will be available, and soon after that the 1 and 2 TB cards.
You obviously do not know the SD card market. Cheap and fast SD cards with a capacity of 1 GB (a CD holds 0.7 GB or 700 MB) are now available for 3 to 5 years. The reasons why most people do not use these for the data exchange are that USB flash drives are much cheaper, more robust and nearly every computer has a USB port.

If people are the greatest asset then paying people to diminish that asset is a very dumb idea.
That's a little simplistic don't you think?
One would assume that you'd also be pro gun control, pro universal healthcare and anti military if not "diminish[ing] that asset" was truly so important to you.
Somehow, I doubt that you're consistent in your stance.
