I know that applying for citizenship is not mandatory..you can have a PR and continue to be so for as long as you like....Is there a shell life for PR ...can you keep renewing it indefinitely ?

If you have a lawyer please ask them, because in my case only the lawyer got the receipt notice.
Now here is what happened to me: filed on July 2nd in Nebraska, receipt notice came from California on Sept 5th, then they forwarded it back to Nebraska and I go the notice of action in the mail (this time I did get it and my lawyer did not), but now my receipt date is Sept. 5th instead of July 2nd.....so don't be surprised if they pull the same thing on you!!!
check online at uscis and make sure your date has already been receipted, then call and call and call....who knows what is getting lost when they move everything around and around!

It has been 11 months since they have received response to RFE, I am planning to take info-pass at Boston office next week and would try to contact senator.

Just a separate space on thsi website, with all the information about positives of skilled immigration. No need to use numberusa or some other idelogue groups.

Sorry I have no advise as I am filing my AP tomorrow for the first time. However it scares me that it's been over 3 months that USCIS received your application. I am sending out mine tomorrow and need to get it it by late February. Wondering if I should mention in my covering letter about expediting it. I am also planning to include prepaid envelope.

He asks us to use internet to tell him what our problems are and also allows us to vote. Though we are not Citizens. He is not asking us to register using SSN or anything and filtering only Citizens.. Its open to all.. Go and tell your problem and also DO vote on relevant topics.
Since its related to economy, related your GC problem to a solution on how you can make a difference to economy by jobs and by buying houses.. Please do it.

same rules apply to medical center. If you donot have MMR how can they give one shot and then give the medical report when another dose is pending next month.
Does that mean those who get MMR shot at medical center have one more pending ...but got their report in advance????

We are in exact same situation. Mine got approved 2 weeks back, even though i am on H1, but we are patiently for my wife's EAD approval.
To make things worse, this whole drama of EB2 current in August will screw me all the more, as she will get 1 yr EAD and then i have to go through this whole nightmare one more time next yr.
For me, it's been almost 3 months now...and they tell me the case is within processing dates published on their website. I've seen people who applied almost 1.5 months later than me get their approvals....
Same situation happened to me - My status shows as card production ordered while hers have no update.
The sad part is that I m continuing on H1 while she is working on her EAD and needs it approved soon

I applied without medicals for myself, my wife and my son. I got everything except AP. Did the FP one week back.
I applied without the medical for my wife, my son and me and I already received my receipts and EAD almost one month ago. My wife and my AP show an LUD yesterday and today but still pending but my son didn't show anything. USCIS received my application on August 14.
I hope this can help.

Also, PACE act is almost guarenteed to go through; We can spend all the energy to push the immigration bill to get it through the conference and then get killed again either in Senate or House because of the guest worker program.
Don't forget that the House (Anti) Immigration Caucus has 92 members -- be assured that if not Sensenbrenner it will be another equally virulent member. Also, conference committees are nominated by the leader of the house -- nothing to stop them from nominating anyone they want.

Another issue that I think people like me mght face is if we are already in our 7th year H1B. If we want to invoke AC21 without having EAD in hand, we have to apply for H1 transfer. Now if our employer does not gove I-485 RN or I-140 approval notice, how can we apply for H1B extension?

When SC cashes your check they issue receipt and put receipt number at the back of the check. thru which you could track your case and get the status by calling service center.

I did exactly the same thing. I had a EB3 May 2004 I-140 approved and I applied 485 with this. during the first quarter of this year, I applied a new labor in EB2 and got it approved in 2 months. I applied I-140 EB2 in premium on 29th June and got it approved. Now my lawyer is going to interfile this new I-140 with my existing pending 485.
First of all, dont worry with your old 140 while applying new one. They would not touch your old 140. The only issue right now is that there is no PP of 140 so you might need to wait up to one year to see 140 approved and that might kill the purpose.Just pray that they start PP soon.

1)when i'm doing interfiling i will be doing the same for my spouse &kid also.So,they too will get their 1-485 applications changed from eb3 to eb2 with the priority date of eb3 right? Or is this interfiling only possible for principle applicant's I-485?
2) After reading ur case one doubt i had is that for me i already filed I-485 under eb3 & now about to start eb2 from the scratch perm,I-140 etc.so while eb2 process is going on at some point of time whether i need to say i have already applied for I-485 under eb3?If so it will make matters more worse right?I know U didnt go through this as u have started eb2 process well before applying for eb3 AOS.(U told u got even ur eb2 I-140 approved under PP)Still,i hope u would be able to comment on this as u might have thought of all the risks associated in interfiling before going ahead.thanks once again.

Not necessarily. Since GC is for future job, it's not impossible for the employer and the employee to be in different cities.
You better check to see if you are invalidating your entire petition.
You may get denied if they determine that the job you are taking is not where you originally stated. I say this because, if you haven't even filed for AoS then you clearly can't be using AC21 portability at this stage.

Makes perfect sense. Hopefully one day Indian and chinese EB applicants will have the complete backing of the immigrant citizens from these countries. If that happens then EB voice will be heard. Until then we can take comfort in reading such articles:o:o
