Just carrying a copy of the receipt is sufficient. Normally the officer will only be interested in the passport and original AP document - that was my experience recently coming into the country.

Hi firends,
I heard that now all we are getting 2 Year EAD/ AP for renewals. Thats very good news to us. I have couple of questions on this.
1. How do we need to pay for renewal? Fee will be 2 years fee or 1 year fee?
2. Is this one combined document with EAD/AP?
3. Is this process already started?

Big thanks to the entire group. We should not be happy unless we get our goals done.
1. They should take the applications for July 2007.
2. They should make PD July 2007 for the coming VB atleast. Because it was current in July 2007.
3. They should increase the VISA numbers so that the back log is no more.
4. They should not seperate husband and wife because of this idiotic immigration system. One having a green card and other partner not able to be with them. Because we INDIAN strongly believe in marriage and not like AMERICAN marrying more than 1 wife or husband.

I was employed by company A until from 2004 thru May'07 with labor and I140 approved in 2006, I was laid off from Company A in May'07 therefore I joined company B in June (transfered my H1).
In July , Company A agreed to file my I485 under future employment as all the EB catagories became current but I still work for company B (H1 with company B), now since in Jan'08 it will be past 180 days on my 485 application.
Can I file AC21 to change my employer to Company B and continue my I485 through to Company B?
Your suggestions/answers will be appreciated.

I filed my I-485 in month of August 2008. I have FP appointment for me and my son on 31st Dec 2008, and for my wife on Jan 2nd 2009. Can my wife just walk in for finger print on 31st along with me and my son ? or she only need to go on 2nd Jan ?

Immigration Law from Houston Immigration Lawyer - Annie Banerjee Has Just Posted the Following:
The DOL introduced a new Prevailing Wage system which will centralize everything. Previously each State's Workforce Agency gave those Prevailing Wage. Obviously there were discrepancies in how each SWA operated causing problems with DOL filings.
However, DOL introduced this new system of centralized Prevailing Wage determination with no computerized system of filing. We have to mail in our request to the DOL. Then the DOL will take forever to come up with a Prevailing Wage. The DOL has advised employers to file the Prevailing Wage 60 days prior to advertising for a PERM, since the ads expire in 6 months. This is strange because the DOL went computerized much earlier than the CIS did. Why could they not have a faster computerized process BEFORE centralizing the whole process? Was this then intentional?
This will slow down businesses, and filing of immigration. Similarly in July of 2009 the DOL significantly slowed down the LCA filings for H-1Bs. Which makes me wonder if DOL is slowing down things as a protectionist measure which caters to socialism? Is this the death of free enterprise, and business at the speed of 21 Century? It was another Democratic President and Congress that passed the AC 21 to speed the process up about a decade ago.

My PD is 08/04/06, and my AP is expiring on June 2nd, I probably will have to travel sometimes June end. I am in a fix if I should go ahead and apply for Ap now. My PD will be current begining June 1st. I heard it may take 1 week to 60 days to get GC after your date becomes current, Do you guys think it's good idea to just apply for AP just in case?

You may apply for AP at any time right? If you apply now, it is very unlikely that you will receive before your June end travel. And if you don't get your GC in june what will you do ? see, it is very easy to ask confusing questions. :)

My company has applied for my H1 extension 3 months in advance of the current expiring H1 under regular processing
1. Does the 240 day rule apply AFTER the expiry of the current H1 OR 240 days from the date you apply for the H extension. I hope its not the latter coz I could have told my employer to apply closer to the expiry instead of 3 months in advance.

I'm going to Vancouver for H1B stamping next week along with my spouse. My understanding is that $150 is the application fee but I'm not sure if it is $150 for entire application (H1 + H4) or is it $300 ($150 for myself and $150 for my wife).

during our meeting with the lobbyists in Washington D.C. one thing stood clear. We have to get our employers in the big picture and we need to meet the lawmakers. For this we are going to start this effort �Meet the lawmakers�. The material and corresponding will eventually come from the Lobbying firm. But in the mean time we need to build the team. You have 2 options. Either use your old H1 which is still valid (assuming u still have a valid visa stamp) and enter US (carry a latest offer letter from employer). If you use the old H1, then you will only have 2 more years of H1 time left.
You can file for a fresh H1 visa in Master's quota under consular processing and when its approved, attend the Visa interview, get a new H1 stamp, and re-enter using the fresh stamp. This way, you will get fresh 6 yrs time on H1.

Why not microsoft? The rest of high tech industry will not survive if they can't move their 60% of operations outside of USA. Bone headed congress will continue to come up with legislation that encourage illegal immigration and discourage legal immigration. Sounds like 19th century for UK, 20th century for USA and 21st century for China and India. Dollar declines and what is the use of GC? I am thinking of going back where the growth is.
In the last radio show that IV was invited (cannot recall which one), one of the premier companies had in fact opined that they will move the jobs overseas if the doors are not opened here. Most probably the company was Oracle.

I too had the paralegal filled out wrong information in regard to my employment history. My lawyer said the same thing; once it is on ETA 9089, you could not really change anything.
In fact, you could not change it when you file I-140. The only thing you could do is to discuss with your lawyer about possible RFEs.
Last but not least, don't sweat it. Worrying won't change anything.
And as for my case, it was approved without any RFE request.
